If you'd like a user flair reflecting that. I'm on a Castlevania kick and would love to play what many Castlevania fans consider to be the ultimate game in the franchise: Rondo of Blood (a Japan-exclusive release for the TurboGrafx-16 gaming console).

I've made attempts, with a variety of emulators, to run the Rondo of Blood ISO + cue but have had no luck. What am I doing wrong? Can someone describe to me like I'm a kid how I can get this game running? Methinks this would make a killer game to play during the Halloween season!

Edit: I'd also like to add that I'd like to be able to run the game without having to use a disc as my laptop, like most laptops of today, doesn't have a CD drive. Rondo of Blood is an excellent choice. Though I prefer the original Rondo, the PSP version is great too, and it's all in English; definitely worth checking out. If you want to play on a TurboGrafx-16 emulator, then Ootake is free and has fairly easy setup.

I also like Magic Engine, but that's got features locked behind a pay wall. • First, get the game. I guess you already did this - iso/cue format is just fine for the emulators I've used. • You'll also need to get a BIOS from a BIOS pack; preferably use the Super System Card v3.

• Download and install Ootake. You might want to try out a TurboGrafx-16 game and set up controls to make sure everything works before continuing to the more complicated CD setup. • You'll need some way to mount the iso/cue; this is putting the CD image into a virtual CD drive.

Download and install Daemon Tools OR Alcohol 120%. I usually mount by right-click options on the cue, but you can also add the image and mount from the menus of the program.

This mounted CD will have a drive letter you'll need to tell Ootake. (Disc mounting is a similar process between emulators, but some emulators and virtual drives have compatibility issues.) • Open Ootake. Go to CD-ROM > Set System Card Image and find the BIOS you got from step #2. Then go to CD-ROM and select the letter of the virtual drive you mounted to for step #4. • The Konami logo should show up.

On the first time playing Rondo there's an unskippable cutscene, just wait until it asks you to press Run. I hope this is enough to get you playing. So a little while ago I was able to get it to work no problem using a registered version of Magic Engine. And it's running great! The thing that was stopping me from using it before was that the previous virtual drive software I was using somehow wasn't allowing me to mount.cue files. So I decided to install Alcohol 120% and was then able to mount the.cue file that came with the Rondo of Blood ISO. After that, it was a cinch loading the game and configuring Magic System to my liking.
