Nistune hardware and Nistune software are 2 different things. The Nistune software requires the licence (free to download and trial) but as mentioned if you are not mapping yourself, it will just be a glorified (but useful) diagnostic tool. You can get many of it's diagnostic functions through cheap (nissandatascan) or free (ECUTalk) software instead.
